Ponte Comm Introduces Travel Plan

Ponte Comm take our responsibilities to the environment seriously. To help us improve our corporate responsibility and work towards our environmental target of ISO14001 accreditation, we have recently introduced our Company Travel Plan.

The plan focuses on reducing emissions, traffic congestion, and solving problems caused by demand for parking. We have a strong focus on employee well-being and the Travel Plan helps us support our staff by encouraging them to build healthy exercise into their daily life.

Our travel plan co-ordinator discussed individual strategies with each member of staff individually. Everyone was then invited to a meeting with Tim Dukes, Community Travel Advisor for Surrey County Council.

All staff have taken individual responsibility for reducing number of car journeys they make to work each week. The scheme has encouraged staff to car share, use public transport, and cycle or walk to the office.

The benefits have been wide ranging:

A less polluted and less noisy environment for local residents in the surrounding community
Improved road safety, especially beneficial to children and other vulnerable groups
Reduced problems caused by traffic congestion on and around our site
Solved problems caused by demand for parking
Reduced emissions by decreasing the number of car journeys to work
Employees can enjoy better health by building more physical exercise into their daily lives
They may save money by car sharing, cycling or walking rather than driving alone.
Enabled more customers to access our offices
Provided a better experience of customers visiting our offices
Improved our image to both our customers and neighbours
Helped us work towards our environmental target of ISO140001

Janet Collins, a Director of Ponte Comm and the Travel Plan Co-ordinator, said of the plan: “We are mindful of our corporate responsibility for environmental issues and the Travel Plan was just one way of helping to reduce Ponte Comm’s impact.”
