Ponte Comm Signs Up To New HSE Pledge

The Ponte Comm Health and Safety philosophy is to continue to improve awareness and good practice on site. We integrate Health and Safety Executive (HSE) safety campaigns into our training programme and therefore had no hesitation in signing up to the HSE's most recent strategy ‘Be Part of the Solution'.

Launched in June 2009 following a three-month consultation programme with business leaders, industry representatives, trade unions, employees, government and others in the health and safety system, ‘Be Part of the Solution' strategy represents a clear statement of core principles and a sensible approach to health and safety in Great Britain.

Like the HSE we also believe that to be truly effective, health and safety has to be an everyday process supported by all as an integral part of workplace culture.

We pledge to:

· Agree to play our part in reducing the numbers of work-related deaths, injuries and ill health in Great Britain.

· Call on employers to put health and safety at the heart of what they do and to take a common sense approach to health and safety.

· Commit to debunking myths around health and safety that trivialise the impact of injuries, ill health and deaths on individuals and their families.

· Recognise the importance of health and safety in difficult economic times and the dangers of complacency.

· Pledge to work with the Health and Safety Executive and its partners to Be Part of the Solution.
