National Blood Service: England and Wales

Ponte Comm has been the Preferred Cabling Partner for the National Blood Service (NBS) since 1994, when we started the adds, moves and changes contract.

We are a sub-contractor to the main Network Provider, currently Computacenter, and on the insistence of the National Blood Service we have retained our position through three changes in Network Provider.

We are very proud of this endorsement of the consistent high quality of our work, the excellent level of customer service levels achieved and the professional manner in which the whole team conducts itself.

We deal direct with the NBS to establish the requirements, complete site surveys, raise quotations, schedule and complete the works.

All NBS sites across England and North Wales are encompassed by this contract, architecturally the buildings span approximately the last 150 years. Cabling within this range of building types demands skill and diligence by the engineering team. The older buildings in particular often require ingenuity and extra care to make sure the new cabling is as unobtrusive as possible and meets all the appropriate standards.

Quality of work is our priority, whether the building is Victorian or 21st century.  The working environment encountered throughout this contract is often challenging, including hospitals, old buildings, existing services and 24-hour utilisation.  Site knowledge and high degree of customer awareness and sensitivity is essential.

The scope of work ranges from single outlet moves and changes to outlets for refurbished laboratories, and covers the installation, termination and testing of Cat 5e copper horizontal cabling systems, voice grade telephone cables, multimode (62.5/125nm) fibre optical cable backbones and inter-building links.

Large Pharmaceutical Company: Small Works

When a leading pharmaceutical company were looking for a data cabling company in 1992 at their Stevenage, Ware and Greenford sites, Ponte Comm was awarded the 'small works' contract.  Since that time Ponte Comm has been supporting the company, on the 3 sites, covering 65+ buildings and 5,000+ users.

Our permanent onsite team use service desk software to log, prioritise and monitor jobs.  Maintenance, moves, adds and changes of Category 5e and Category 6 data cabling and optical fibre works are completed.

We are honoured to have provided this service for so many years, and believe it is testament to the very high level of customer service, quality of works and degree of site knowledge that is provided by our onsite team.
